Saint Martin's Day is celebrated on the 11th of November. And tradition dictates: eating sardines, roasting chestnuts and drinking new wine.

“ON SAINT MARTIN'S DAY, BREAD, CHESTNUTS AND WINE!”

Saint Martin's Day is celebrated on the 11th of November.

On this day, the proper traditions must be observed: eating sardines, roasting chestnuts and drinking new wine. Families gather around the campfire.

Despite this tradition celebrating the autumn season, on this day, as a rule, the weather improves and the sun appears. This event is known as the Summer of S. Martinho.

There is a legend associated with this date: it tells that a soldier, called Martinho, was on his way to his homeland.

The weather was cold. The military found a beggar asking for alms. And he then decided to tear his cloak and give half to the beggar, so that he wouldn't get cold.

At this time, the sky opened and the weather warmed up. It is believed that it was a reward for the good deed. It is said that this is the reason for the good weather that is usually on the day of Magusto.

TAKE A CRUISE ON THIS SPECIAL DAY?!

Tradition demands that this date be celebrated with a magusto.

On a special cruise from São Martinho, you can enjoy the famous roasted chestnuts, accompanied by a glass of wine.

The famous green broth and traditional bread are also part of the menu.

The animation doesn't end here. There will be a duo of concertinas that promises to get everyone “dancing”. To help the party, you can also drink the typical jeropiga.
