Douro Historic Train – A journey through time... now with a new locomotive!
Travelling on the Douro Historic Train is a true journey back in time. Aboard 5 historic carriages, this route between Pinhão and Tua continues to enchant everyone who takes it, now with a classic diesel locomotive from the 1960s, preserving the charm and nostalgia of days gone by.
Along the way, enjoy the stunning beauty of the Douro wine region — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — accompanied by traditional regional music, a toast with a glass of Port wine, and the famous Régua sweets.
This program includes a Douro river cruise and a ride on the Historic Train. Board at the Régua pier at 12:00, enjoy an aperitif and lunch on board, sail to Pinhão, and then board the train towards Tua on this unforgettable railway journey.
In 2025, due to preventive restrictions on the Douro Line, the Historic Train will run with a historic diesel locomotive from the 1960s (series 1401-1467), replacing the steam locomotive CP 0186.
The journey aboard the historic carriages — complete with traditional music, wine tastings, and breathtaking Douro landscapes — remains authentic and unforgettable.
